560 km on foot to the magnetic north pole
The 48 years old Dresdner David Maddox walked 560 km through the ice countryside of Canada. He took the chance for an expedition with a 30 000 Euro credit and a daily condition training. He started his journey to the north pole with his team „Peaceful Warriors from Ottawa. He walked with his team and a travel bag of 60 kg trough the up to – 80°C „cool“ ice countryside. As the chef of the team there was every time a good meal - bag soups.
But why should he do this? Because of a child book: „Polar Bear Poo“.
And he got two other world records: The first record was for the worst weather since 1953 and the second one for the longest time for walking to the magnetic north pole.
All that David Maddox described with his keynote presentation in the assembly hall of our Dr.-Otto-Rindt-Oberschule Senftenberg.
Very important for us was: Mr. Maddox`s presentation was in English!
Thanks a lot for this interview.
